Iron Eagle
In 1986, two jet fighter movies hit movie screens around the world. The more famous of the two was Tom Cruises TOP GUN. About naval aviators competing against each other to with the Top Gun trophy. And Cruise falling in love with a beautiful woman like in most action movies he's in.
The other, and my personal favorite of the two, IRON EAGLE.
The other, and my personal favorite of the two, IRON EAGLE.
When Air Force Col. Ted Masters(Tim Tomerson) is shot down over seas, his teenage son, Doug(Jason Gedrick), gathers his friends and enlists the help of Col. Chappy Sinclair (Louis Gossett, Jr), to dream up an seemingly impossible rescue mission to save Col.Masters. Equipped with his flying skills and his trusty Walkman, Doug and Chappy, manage to rescue Col. Masters and return him home.
The film is one of my personal favorite 80's films. The story, although very improvable, is entertaining and enjoyable. The music selection composes a classic rock and roll mix just suited for an 80's action movie. Including, Queen, Adrenaline and King Kobra. Although Queen's"One Vision" is repeated a couple of time witch makes it kind of loose it's appeal.
The films did fair for an 80's action B-Movie. Only costing 18 million to make, it pulled in over 24 million dollars, not a huge return but a decent amount for the type of action film. And it spawned 3 more sequels, with Gossett being the only cast member to return from the original film.
I Can't recommend this film enough, A fun enjoyable 80's action flick, although i wish you the best of luck tracking down a copy, the dvd release is one of the early dvd releases from the late 1990's, your better off buying a VHS copy, or like most people, find it online. What ever way you choose, i hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
